"What's So F#@k'n Funny?" is an album that should carry a different kind of warning label than the Parental Advisory one that it already does. It should carry a warning against listening while operating a motor vehicle. As I was driving, I put on the album. I got to "The Priest Molestation Hotline" and laughed until I was choking and almost drove off of the road. From the wistful "Ode to Scruffy" to the plaintive "I Don't Like Bush", Eidman skillfully evokes tears of laughter and joy from his audience. Eidman is versatile in that he is as equally skilled at performing musical comedy as he is at comedic skits. As a concession to potential radio programmers, Eidman includes four bonus clean tracks of explicit songs also on the album. Link to Article Here. CASHBOX MAGAZINE 4 STAR REVIEWADULT COMEDY Reviewed 02-26-08Brett Eidman Whats So F#@k'n Funny I thought this genre of music died years ago but this blue comedy CD would make Redd Foxx blush. In the 50's and 60's this was under the counter stuff then it sort of disappeared from the music scene in the 70's but Brett is bringing it back with no holds barred. Some of the mentionable tracks include "I Don't Like Bush", "Don't Marry the Jew" and "He Just Does Decks". For what it is, it’s not that bad. Four Stars * * * * Chucklemonkey (2007)"This isn't your ordinary stand-up comedy album... but then, the homeless clown on the front probably should have already given that away. Rather, this CD is a collection of comedy songs and sketches - and unlike many 'sketch comedy' CD efforts, some of these tracks are actually funny. While a few of the tracks ('Mi Dik") admittedly rely on the same type of juvenile humor we heard in the 3rd grade, other tracks (like 'OB/GYN', for example) actually present hilarious sketch concepts that would NEVER work on TV. The album is slickly produced and easy to listen to - and special props go out to Brett for including the track 'Fan Message', where we get to hear a real voicemail message from a particularly offended fan, with hilarious results." - Chucklemonkey.com5 Star Review
HUDSON VALLEY MAGAZINE JANUARY 2007 Funny That Way
West Nyack comedian Brett Eidman is mighty proud that his song “Ode to Scruffy” quickly became the number one requested song on the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento radio show. It seems his little diddy about his dead dog appeals to... well, the type of people who religiously listen to the Dr. Demento Show. You know who you are. Eidman’s fans will be happy to know there is more where that came from: he recently released his first CD, What’s So F#@k’n Funny? But buyer beware: if sophomoric humor is not your thing, stay away ... far away. Eidman works hard at offending everyone from the Jews (“Don’t Marry the Jew”) to the Catholics (“Priest Molestation Hotline”) to homosexuals (“Homo Depot”), and there’s even a Bush-bashing song thrown in for good measure. And of course, there’s sex, sex, and more sex. (Did we mention sex?) Let’s just say this is potty humor on steroids. Eidman, a regional stand-up comedian who has had guest stints on Saturday Night Live and Comedy Central, is currently writing a oneman show with National Lampoon writer/producer Jeffrey Gurian. He says the show, which will tour next year, features “new material, a whole different deal, very true, very real.” Let’s hope it’s very funny. So, to keep his comedy skills sharp, we asked Eidman to outline his top-five New Year’s resolutions for living in the Hudson Valley.
My New Year's Resolutions
4. As a community service, avoid riding the Ferris wheel after eating at the Palisades Center food court. 3. Reveal the truth: the Hudson River manatee was actually a fat kid from Poughkeepsie. 2. I’m going to stop swimming in the waters off of Indian Point — even though it’s so nice and warm. 1. Stop selfishly promoting my new CD, which is available in stores, on Amazon, on iTunes, or at bretteidman.com.
